I keep reading about this special category for visas. So it's easier to get and it's a 3 year visa instead of 1 year, am I correct?

So how does one go about becoming such a specialist?

Thanks,
S

So how does one go about becoming such a specialist?

By getting a job which pays 2 million rubles or more per year. That's the only requirement.

The amount only has to be 1 million if you're working in University or private school which is accredited with the Ministry of Education.

If your employer is part of the Skolkovo project, you can be a highly qualified specialist regardless of how much your salary is.

This sounds like the best way to go as far as visas are concerned.

Do you have any idea of how much that is in dollars?

Also, what kind of degree or training do you need to have to receive those kinds of salaries in Russia? Is a University Diploma in Economics enough or should you have a Master's Degree to receive these kind of offers? I am assuming you should be fluent in Russian to get these kinds of jobs (I am).

The highly qualified specialist route sounds like the best way to go there.

No degree required. All you need is an employment contract with a number greater than 2000000 rub/annum or equivalent rate for another period of time.

Getting the specialist visa depends entirely on your boss. Its less hassle for your employer too, as they do not need to apply for a quota.
