View Full Version : Migration card + 2 day visit

The new procedures confused me, but I thought I caught on.

I know that you don't have to de-register and reregister if you leave for less than 3 business days from Russia (Right?). So, now I've gone to Ukraine for 2 business days and they took away my migration card when I left.

How does this register with the system? Now I have a new, unregistered migration card when I return - one that doesn't match my registration. But I left for less than 3 business days.

Can someone explain how this is legal/ what to say if they stop me? Or am I unduly confused?

I think no one cares about or notices the registration these days.

I just came from a provincial Russian city, where the militisia checked my papers at the airport, and nothing matched, but I had some original registration paper, so through I went.

In Moscow, nobody seems to know the rules, so anything, old or new that has a stamp works.

In-out, register-deregister, forget it. Do it once, keep it handy. That's my advice.

Get a good nights sleep.
