I've been thinking about starting to offer basic event and portrait photography services to the expat community. Mostly I'm here teaching English and have my bases covered by that, but I'd like to slowly transition into professional photography. So far I've been doing stock, mainly travel focused, but I'd like to work with people more. Working to an assignment is something I actually like - I've done product photography and model portfolios a little and really enjoyed the challenge. There's a list of potential markets at 47 Things People Will Pay You To Shoot | Making Money Selling your photos - Photopreneur Blog (http://blogs.photopreneur.com/47-things-people-will-pay-you-to-shoot/#more-252) which shows a lot of possibilities for this sort of thing; they all sound interesting.

The thing is, 1., my kit is set up for travel photography (no flash or studio equipment, though I've started pricing it) and 2., I have no idea what to charge. Anyone have some guidelines? I assume it would be good to set an hourly rate plus processing time. Processing RAWs, outputting to the web, dealing with prints - that can take a lot more time than the shoot itself. Also, how to handle prints? I get them done through netprints.ru and then pick them up on site when I'm shooting for myself...

Here's a sample of some recent work, though it was prepped for friends and family viewing, not yet for stock. Got a bunch of requests for digital copies and prints from the people I got pictures of, though, which is part of what got me thinking about this.

Anyway, any suggestions? Thanks for any help!
