Hi Mark!
There has been a thread about places to watch rugby. I watched it couple of time by some sport channel, it is interesting.
And what was most amazing - they say it is not more dangerous than football (soccer as you call it :)). Could it be true?

Thanks All,

etc. includes bars, cafes, restaurants, wine, site seeing, meeting locals and expats... Rugby just happens to be a little prominent at the moment though :-)

LOL re Rugby as safe as Soccer... I think it's similar but that still makes me smile... you know when a Rugby player doesn't get straight up that there was genuine contact, but expected...

I'll be back in the US for about a week, back first week in Oct. I'll be making my way to Sportland for some Rugby coverage unless I get a better offer ;-)

Cheers,
Mark

Welcome to the site!

Hope you enjoy your stay in Moscow.

Are you serious about meeting locals?
I do like restaurants as well, however to my mind it would be very wise to take advantage of this wonderful
weather we are having at the moment! It is a very appropriate season for taking walks in parks and forests -
a really short period called golden autumn. Can I offer you a walk in Tsaritsyno Park or picking mushrooms
(a traditional Russian pastime at this time of year) in a forest (if only you aren't afraid, of course ;) )?
I promise I won't compel you to eat the gathered funguses! :D :D

By the way, they've only recently reconstructed the impressive Yekaterininsky Palace and built an exquisite
dancing fountain in that Park (I live nearby).
And restaurants are similar at any season, don't you agree?

Cheers,

Tania.

Tania,

Thanks for the reply and yes... I am serious about meeting locals... However, it will have to wait about a week. I am flying to Seattle tonight and returning to Moscow on Oct 2nd. If the "golden autumn" can last into the first weekend in October then I am totally into picking fungus! The edible kind of course LOL! Seriously though, I would very much appreciate seeing Moscow from a Moscovite.

Please feel free to PM me and/or reply here.

Cheers,
Mark

...Gentle shark... what could that mean...

Mark,

Thanks a lot for the quick reply. I hope I'll still be in Moscow during the first weekend of October and this golden autumn
will still be reigning. Then it seems highly probable that my work will force me to go on a business trip.
I have to visit several cities in the south of Russia and it will take me about ten days.

Hopefully, not all edible mushrooms will be gathered and eaten when we go after them! :ninja:

Here's the picture of the Grib Borovik (Boletus Edulis) - the King of Mushrooms! :verycool: I found this specimen last Sunday.

You'd better prepare the biggest basket - I know some good spots for mushrooms! ;)

I've recalled something about Rugby...

When I was a teenager, I went in for judo for several years and from time to time we played Rugby as our training.
The girls played together with boys and we all liked the game very much. But now I've got deep doubts whether
I'll be able to make at least one decent throw. :( :(

However, I hope I'll be able to appreciate the beauty of good play. :verycool:

I'm planning to watch most of the current championship matches left.
