... a day after Jeremy Clarkson called for striking public sector workers to be shot, the BBC was facing such a growing clamour for his sacking that even the Prime Minister became caught up in the row.
Union bosses failed to see the funny side of what the Top Gear presenter insisted had been a joke, and were so enraged that they consulted lawyers over whether to call in the police.

What a bunch of poofs and ar$es

They have one of the most secure jobs ever, and they want more... I am all for the rights of workers, but come on, Jeremy C, leave him be

What makes the whole thing funny is that he said public sector workers should be shot, in balance for the BBC being fair and showing both sides/opinions. He first commented that he was in favour of the strikes as he could drive round freely in London and the airport was quieter. JC's joke (not a funny one) was aimed at the balance of opinion of the BBC, not at the people striking.

As usual, most of the media played the short clip of him saying people should be shot and not the bit before. Most of the complaints to the BBC were from people reading the Daily Mail etc.
