Runners....hmmmm:thumbsup: Well I'm off to Chicago the 19th for a couple races before the marathon on the 7th of October. The calendar is at (http://www.probeg.org)
I will actually be back in time to do if I feel like it after the marathon. There is a half and a 10k. IRC Internet Running Club (http://www.irc-club.ru) Will be 3rd or 4th weekend in October-check the site as we haven't picked a date yet. Come run in the mud around the 3200m pond in Kuzminki! Spikes recommended:D If you are in and around southeast we could maybe run together when I get back. :wavey: I train independently with my coach and just do what he tells me to. Weekly distance is about 120-30km. After Chicago, I'll be doing recovery trail runs. If you are serious about your training AVOID living in the center and try for a GREEN area(Fili,Sokolniki,Izmailovsky,Kuzminki, Bitsevsky,Tepliy Stan). I train at Kuzminki/Belaya Dacha, Luzhniki summer AZLK 1-2times a week Jan-March. :bedtime::bedtime:

Amazingly how many people like running, I hate. But I also have friend who participated in Moscow 10km maraphon, can tell him about you. He lives in the nice place on the east of Moscow near Izmilovskiy park - good place for running.

Izmailovsky is a good place to run. There is a trail marathon there in early July each yr. So Margo, I take it you won't be running with us...not even a little??;) I just did 30k in the mud.

Simply I have absolutely no stamina on the contrary, I have very short legs :).
I'll be in support team.

It does not need to make 30k in mud, just start from making short distance jogging and you will get a great stamina, vivacity for all day long.
Just do it for joy:) Strong body good spirit and no places for failures:).

Running is a great thing, I do it regularly. I am not a regular participant of marathon contests but I cover decent distances, especially when I have enough time.

By a way, I live not far from Kolomenskoe park. Are there any desirous to run there?:lovepot::wavey:

In mid July, we had an all night run that started in Kolomenskoe.

Agree- you have to start small and gradually build up. When I was in middle school, I got teased all the time by the a$$hole kids in PE class because I was the slowest kid. I couldn't run the mile without stopping til I was nearly 14. Hell, the PE teacher and track coach said I probably wouldn't be much of a distance runner. What a cu#t!!! Nothing like encouraging a kid at a sensitive age.

So the summer before I started high school I wanted to be able to run the stupid mile by the time school started in late August. Well, I had that by the end of june .By August, I was ok doing 5k. When we did that godda#n mile run in PE class that fall I took great joy in smoking all the little sh!ts who teased the hell out of me all those years:agree: even most of the boys:p:p The track coach took notice and asked me to be the 1600 and 3200m runner on the team. The rest is history.

As far as speed/performance-it really started falling into place for me about my Jr year of college where I had another great coach. When I started qualifying and placing in national championships, I so wanted to go back and find that rag of a middle school teacher and pass on this :bird::bird::bird:

Remember the kid who could barely crawl a 10 min mile?????

So, moral of the story-yes start from baby steps and build up. I competed in college for four years on the track and xc teams (5000/10,000m specialistplus did xc in the fall)before running my first marathon.

Ye-e, as a rule these f.. "beloved" school teachers hurt a lot child's psyche by saying the same rubbish - "you're not able to do this, this, this.." "youre morons, idiots, you can't enter high school etc.." instead of motivating a child to develop his/her abilities and supporting them.

I'd gone in for sports since childhood and loved it but PE classes had left me absolutely indifferent as they'd not involved me by any of motivation. And the teacher had not been eager even to do it really.
Do not want to offend those teachers who are different but the first option prevalent.
It should be said - remember what you've been told you're stupid in and start to do it with deep enjoy!

Yes-teachers can make all the difference for better or for worse.I always tried my darnest to show the kids I worked with that I cared. A teacher can have an incredible impact on a child's life. Many of my former high school students still write to me. I'm still in contact with my high school track coach and Spanish teacher because they were and still are great ppl.
