View Full Version : Where to buy a Fish/meat smoker??

Hi everyone!

I was wondering if anyone knows where I can buy a good fish/meat smoker in Moscow? Ideally I don't want to spend a fortune because I've never had a smoker before. I've tried searching on the web but I'm typing in English so all the results that are coming up are for goods in the US/England! If anyone knows what type of smokers Russians would use so I can make some authentic smoked meats and fish! If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it!

Many thanksx

p.s. I live in an apartment so would need something that can be used in the kitchen with the window open but can also take it to the countryside to do outdoors if that is possible??!!! Cheers!

summer is of course over so it might be that they have changed the assortment for winterboots and snow boards.
But during summer I saw at the KARUSEL supermarket at Megapolis center, In Voikovskaya where also Stockmann is located, simple s/s boxes with a place to put in the saw dust and a grill to put down the products to smoke. it was around some 3000 rubles. Russian manufacturers do the same...
Might want to look at a hunting/camping supply they for sure will stock these things all year around.

another place came to my mind.. TVOI DOM thez also should have them..

A friend of mine made one out of plant pots.

Thanks for the online translator advice, good idea didn't even think about that! And I will try and find Karousel, TVOI DOM and OBI - hopefully one of them will have it- thanks! I LOVE the plant pot idea, although as this is a partly a present for my boyfriend, he may not be happy at my attempts to make us a smoker myself and wrap it up with a bow! But if all else fails I shall definitely attempt it! Thanks a lot for the advice guys, I just moved to Moscow last week and it's great to get advice on things like this!

Never try, just select closest place and go:
Karusel' shops:
http://www.karusel.ru/shops_4.html - topmost 4 are for Moscow region, others for Moscow city

OBI shops:

Tvoi dom, see 2 topmost for Moscow, 3rd is for Voronezh:
