Does anyone have any details on a school apparently known as "Sad Sam", which I've heard rumours about, but nobody I've spoken to seems to know it's full name or where it is... Wierd...

I'd like to know what ages it's for, where it is, contact number, whether it really is any good, what languages it teaches in, etc...

And - does it really exist?!

Thanks! :)

Yes, the school really exists - my child attends it! It's only a small place, but there is a really nice atmosphere. The lady that runs it is called Masha Leonova. She can be contacted on 7516985 (think that's correct!) The school is actually located in a private apartment on the Samatochnaya section of the Sadovaya, right on the corner of Bolshoy Karetni per. I believe they'll be moving soon to St Andrew's church near Bolshoy Nikitskaya yl. Nothing's been confirmed at this stage however.

My child is in the older morning group (there is a group for under 2's in the afternoon-ask Masha about this). School starts at 9.30 and finishes at 12.45. There is the option of a longer day on Tuesday when you can collect your child at 3pm. As you can imagine, I like Tuesdays!!
The kids do lots of painting and music etc. I understand that they have visiting art/music/dance specialists. They also play outside every day in this great little playground nearby (weather permitting of course), so you know they're getting some fresh air.

Tuition is totally in Russian (Masha speaks excellent English however). For me, as we're going to be here for such a long time, I need my daughter to get as much tuition in Russian as she can. This might not suit all parents though.

I pay $250 each month. My Russian friends say it's pricey (it is when you compare it to Russian-Russian kindergartens ), but those places won't take under 3's and the ones I saw had poor facilities and playgrounds (not suprising as they're not getting the financial input). On the other hand, compare $250 to the $700-800 some other kindergartens want. It's a snip!

It's worth calling Masha, just to arrange a visit and get all the info from the horse's mouth so to speak. I have had no problems so far and my child loves it.

Hope this helps a little.
