Would anyone know, around what metro stations are there any indoor running tracks ? For example as part of a gym? I would really appreciate your help.

Thank you

The CSKA sports complex on Leningradka between Airport and Sokol metro stations used to have one. Try calling the numbers at this link to check:

CSKA is probably the best surfaced one in Moscow. I go to AZLK (Tekstilshiki 2 min from the metro) though Jan-March 2wice a week because it's 10 min from my door and convenient for my and for my coach. Coach gets me free access :D but last I checked AZLK was 1800rub a month or 800 if you get in by 10am. 1100rub gets you all the running you want at CSKA. I have free access there but it;s too much a pain to go up there so I stick to AZLK.It's best to go to either before the evening hours as it can be a zoo then.

Wanna run??? Our club is having a 1000m challenge at 8pm at the Yuzhnoe Yadro -Luzhniki. ;) Personally, I HATE running indoors and lived in Alaska nearly 10 years and never once set foot on an indoor track even at -50 or so. I had plenty of mountains to run for strength and speed training in the winter. My coach likes me to get some speed indoors once or twice a week in the pre season now and we also do weights/strength after those speed sessions. There is also a heated 700m trail in Kuzminki Park I prefer to the indoor track any day.

I'm also a runner, looking for places to run and people to run with...
Now I'm training at Sokolniki park, weather is still good enough, sometimes on saturday morning I'm joining a "jogging team" for some long distance running...

any other suggestion? you know, it's just difficult after a long working day to get my stuff, take the metro and spend 30min go and 30back at least just for some jogging...

but if there is a nice group, and a nice track, it can be worth!!

(by the way... I'm running medium-long distances)

Luzhniki tonight after our club's 1000m run. Coach missed this one so I got to sneak a drinky afterwards. He recently told me no drinkys til after Chicago....that's a bit harsh. SHHHHHHH don't tell:shhhhhh: Anyhow, I live and train at Kuzminki year round regardless of temp esp in the winter. Sometimes, I do interval sessions at Luzhniki as well. I start work at about 3PM so I sleep in and then run 11 12 ish during the day. At weekends if I'm not competing, I also run late morning early afternoon (whenever I drag my ar$e out of bed).
I'm strictly a distance dawg specialising in the marathon. Weekly distance in training is about 120-130km. I run shorter stuff like 10k,15k, half marathons to prepare for my longer races.
Coach is pushing for me to gear up this winter for 50K Nationals in Pushino next April because he seems to think I would likely place top 3 plus get the Master Sporta status in this distance (this is the equivalent of national class). I've never done 50k on pavement-just on trail. So, it looks like it's going to be another winter of 3-4 hour long runs in the snow (same way I trained for 50Ks back in Alaska). If anyone wants to join me for any portion of these runs -feel free to do so:agree: I like to run through Kuzminki then across MKAD into Belaya Dacha (all on trails no traffic/cars smelly exhaust etc).
Coach leaves Sunday and is gone til the 17th to compete in the World Masters Championships in Italy. So, I'll be lonely and looking for company esp on those hard interval days:(

6k at Luzhniki Sat 10am signup is tomorrow 10-19 at the Malaya Arena 2nd floor and Sat from 8am-9:30. I picked up my number today so that means I won't be going there to pick up numbers for anyone tomorrow but would be happy to point anyone in the right direction on Sat if interested.

IRC — Internet Running Club (http://www.irc-club.ru)

It's a national club, but most of us are in and around Moscow. Do you speak Russian? It's a Russian club and I'm the only foreigner in the bunch, but I've known some of these folks for years and have been competing here since 98.You can check out our forum (and see where I really kill lots of time posting)and sometimes we have club runs in various places around Moscow. You just have to see if anything is posted on the board. In the summer, some of the guys meet at Luzhniki after work then TSKA and or AZLK in winter. We also have club races-
Late October-gryazebeg in Kuzminki
Late Dec. Snegobeg also in Kuzminki
July peskobeg in the sand up at Shukinskaya
All night run Sat-into Sunday 30k for fun
Aug Solnechnogorsk marathon
1000m august
click on the photos link and check it out:)

You are welcome to post on the board at any time (in Russian) but if you care to join the club we just require you stay active (post, compete once in a while) in the club. We have members throughout the CIS and a couple are now in Vancouver,Canada who emigrated back in 2003.

I also belong to Luzhniki which is a local/Moscow club-also Russian.

When do I train? Usually late morning early afternoon before going to work. I'm coached by my significant other who is one of the top coaches for the distance dawgs in the Russian team. He was the 10,000m USSR champ in his heyday. Where - Kuzminki, AZLK, trails out at the dacha... sometimes the Volkusha xc trails in Litkarino.

it's great to see such a big runners/expats group in moscow. i trained from April to July to prepare for moscow's marathon (60-70 km pw), but my asthma won over me. i gave up for 2 months and i'm ready to pick a challange again.
it's very good advice to look for a GREEN spots - what's killed me last time was running in smog, i won't do the same mistake again.

Hi kazachka! we exchange email long time ago, great to see your goals - very impressive. Maybe there's someone else from Park Kultury area? I know after 2 months off i won't be able to run with you, kazachka :)
BTW anyone knows good runners store where i could get warm tights for autumn/fall season?

Well, even my grandma could keep up with my slow a$$ the way this season has been going. :rolleyes:I pretty much got robbed of a season from mid Jan(thank you fecking bronchitis) to nearly July. I had a freak quirk race in May when I won the Luzhniki Marathon but everything else has been absolute sh!te performance wise. :( :grind:
ANyhow...the running shop is over in the hotel complex(konsertny zal) at Izmailovo. I get a discount there and would offer to take you, but I'm in Chicago (supposedly going to try and run a fast marathon) til the 13th oct. Here is the running shop info:)

Hi mckarla. Im close to park kultury and happy to meet any runners.

Thanx Rob. I'd love to meet other runners, too. Unfortunatly i had two weeks ago appendicitis surgery and i'm hardly getting out of my appartment. Things should be better in few months, so if you can wait... ;) i hope you will find good running company. take care
