Are men afraid of intelligent women?

It's strange to have this question from the man. :D

Are men afraid of intelligent women?

I love a girl with a big brain...but being able to play chess doesn't equate with intelligence in my book...

I understand we use only between 3-5% of our brains. So a girl who uses 5% of her brain has it going on...

Why? A Russian woman can ask for example, "Are Russian women good mothers?"
Anyway, whether it's strange or not is a petty point to argue about...

People always quote some minuscule percent(yours was particularly low) of 'brain use', so in the name of science and urban myths, Scientific American has decided to put us straight. (for example, at least 10% is used when we are sleeping). http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=people-only-use-10-percent-of-brain

The article differentiates between the percentage of the entire brain that's employed at any given time, saying that at one time or another during the course of the day the entire brain is active (100%), and the capacity of the brain's potential that's used. It's the latter speculation that's a crapshoot.

Years ago the prevailing percentage of the brain's maxed performance at any given time was thought to be 15%, that's the percentage of potential. So the opinions in the SA article are all over the board as well.

I would reread it. This for example: "Though an alluring idea, the "10 percent myth" is so wrong it is almost laughable, says neurologist Barry Gordon at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore." The article seems to be consistent enough.

And what is 'maxed performance' or 'brain potential'? Where did you get 15%?

A 100% is maxed in most fields. As far as I can see, 'Brain potential' is used to sell all sorts of products with very little validity.

So, she is Ushenina, not Ushina? In the link I posted above she was named Ushina, and I haven't found references to her anywhere else, which seemed odd.

As I read the article, if there are X number of parts to a brain and at some point or other during the day if each one is used, this is using 100% of the brain . I see within the article the contrast to this is using each part of the brain to it's maximum potential, 100%, of which we arguably use only 5-20% or whatever percentage any given scientific mind conjures up on a given day.... it's the difference between using all your brain vs. maximizing it's potential.
