Anywhere to fwatch movies in English. Last time I was here the Slavyanskaya was one of the few places to go, btu now they have turned the whole place into a casino!

There is still the Oktabyr on N. Arbat and dom kino - but is there anywhere else that you can watch movies in English?

The Moscow Times is hit or miss with listing the English movies playing. Sometimes they have a well marked place "English language movies" or something like that; other times they have a listing of all movies in all cinemas in the city. They all list "dubbed" or "English", but since there's only 3-4 that say "English" and there it doesn't stand out (like a bold font), it's very hard to find.

Oktyabr and Dom Kino are the two stand-bys. 35 mm often shows english language movies. Pyat Zveyezda and Illusia sometimes.

I run a "Movie Night" group. We rent a little cinema and watch a movie of our choice on DVD. It's quite a fun social event. We show both English and German movies. Soon, maybe French, too. If you are interested, give me your contact information by PM.

Just thought I'd let you know about problems at the Dome. Went there on Friday with expectations of seeing their scheduled showing of the new Bond film in English, and we were told that it was going to be in Russian with a live English translation. The manager told us that actually the distributer has been increasingly less reliable of late, and original versions are becoming increasingly rare, with only dubbed versions coming through.

Hopefully this won't be a regular feature.

EDIT: By the way, I feel obliged to add that the manager was pretty, first offering us honest advice about the liklihood of the film being shown ("it should be, but I'm not 100% so I wouldn't buy tickets yet if I was you") and then, when telling us it was going to be dubbed with a live translation he said we could give it a try and then have our money back if we weren't happy.

Top marks for customer services.

torrents and home theater are a good alternative to cinemas... you can get most of the movies in english just few months after release

that's how I do it :)
