Hey, with all these super hero movies out, I was just wondering if there has ever been a Russian super hero in the comics or movies. I've never heard of any. Surely there was someone besides Gargarin?! :) Maybe this super hero BS is just isolated to the decadent west? It is kind of silly, isn't it? I couldn't see Stalin approving anyone flying around the Soviet Union in a cape and tights!

I find the superhero concept to be a noble idea, as each has his/her own innate weakness (Superman: kryponite; Batman: a mere mortal), and each uses his/her power to benevolently help mankind. Whereas, during Soviet times, you had state-sponsored propaganda that glorified the attrocities of Lenin, Che Guevara, Fidel Castro....

Also, lest we forget, the 'martyred' Soviet boy in the village that reported his parents for hoarding grain from the harvest, as well as that cult-Soviet-hero figure from the civil war times -- what's his name?

Perhaps Russians would be willing to adopt a lesser known Western Superhero, one who is a little down on his luck, like... “The Tick”!

Do you mean Pavlik Morozov?

Rosie,

Think that would have to be Ivan Vosiliovich and Pet'ka has the sidekick role.

What about Porutchik Rzhevsky? (presumably fictitious hero of 1812 war with Napoleon)

Who?

The Russian gingerbread man. Rip off gingerbread man's arms and legs and roll him into a ball and you have Kolobok :)
