I think it should something more tangible than the rep points (do we need to move this to the site related folder?). Like a free entre at the Alb? What do you say?

Cherokee, congratulations... :hooray:

A beautifull shot.

(I myself voted for the tanning boys, as it just gave me a little more "summer" feeling.)

Hal, liked your picture is very nice too. Had your signature all over it

Will have to see now if I can find something that can beat Salvadorian busses for August contest. (Maltese busses maybe?).

Looking forward to the next contest.

Thanks Buddy. The pic was taken in New Zealand. Me personally I liked the boys shot too because it reminded me so much of my own childhood in the summercamp :) it sure would have been a great winning shot too!

I've thought about that, and hope eventually something like that could be worked out, or something organized (like an exhibit, or, a calendar of each month's winner that could be sold and profits donated to charities).

I dunno. Unfortunately, all of those ideas require a sponsor. We'll see.

Well, I would never have guessed that it was taken in NZ; it reminded me of somewhere south on the Volga.

For me, it summed up 'absloute contentment' for those youngsters.......peace and tranquilty in between their next adventure or misdemanour..........boys being boys!

Again, well done, a super image.

if south Volga is like NZ I definatly must go there. Any places you can recommend? Never been in that area.

The furtherst South on the Volga I went was to Volgagrad and spent many hours swimming in the river in between surveying the Mamayev Kurgan and all the other historic Stalingrad sites of which there are many...................

A remarkable military history which hopefully also interests those who have no military background....................

I am planning a ships cruise mdown the Volga somewhen in the near future. So hope I can go there. Since I do have a military background I am very interested.

If you get a chance to read 'Stalingrad' by Anthony Beevor before you go, I highly recommend it.

It is a written like a diary about the seige using Russian and German accounts and is masterfully written. I am not ashamed to report that on many occasions it brought tears to my eyes when reading the accounts of those who survived..................it really was an awful part of history, especially for the Russians who so valiantly defended the city at massive costs.
