This is a very long National Hymn, cute tune though, all together now:

REFRAIN

Aux armes, citoyens !
Formez vos bataillons !
Marchons, marchons !
Qu'un sang impur...
Abreuve nos sillons !

COUPLETS
I

Allons ! Enfants de la Patrie !
Le jour de gloire est arrivé !
Contre nous de la tyrannie,
l'étendard sanglant est levé ! (Bis)
Entendez-vous dans les campagnes
Mugir ces féroces soldats ?
Ils viennent jusque dans vos bras
Égorger vos fils, vos compagnes.
Aux armes, citoyens ! Etc.

II

Que veut cette horde d'esclaves,
De traîtres, de rois conjurés ?
Pour qui ces ignobles entraves,
Ces fers dès longtemps préparés ? (Bis)
Français ! Pour nous, ah ! Quel outrage !
Quels transports il doit exciter ;
C'est nous qu'on ose méditer
De rendre à l'antique esclavage !
Aux armes, citoyens ! Etc.

III

Quoi ! Des cohortes étrangères
Feraient la loi dans nos foyers !
Quoi ! Des phalanges mercenaires
Terrasseraient nos fiers guerriers ! (Bis)
Dieu ! Nos mains seraient enchaînées !
Nos fronts sous le joug se ploieraient !
De vils despotes deviendraient
Les maîtres de nos destinées !
Aux armes, citoyens ! Etc.

IV

Tremblez, tyrans et vous, perfides,
L'opprobre de tous les partis !
Tremblez ! Vos projets parricides
Vont enfin recevoir leur prix. (Bis)
Tout est soldat pour vous combattre.
S'ils tombent, nos jeunes héros,
La terre en produira de nouveaux
Contre vous, tous, prêt à se battre.
Aux armes, citoyens ! Etc.

V

Français, en guerriers magnanimes
Portons ou retenons nos coups !
Épargnons ces tristes victimes,
A regret, s'armant contre nous ! (Bis)
Mais ce despote sanguinaire !
Mais ces complices de Bouillé !
Tous ces tigres qui, sans pitié,
Déchirent le sein de leur mère !
Aux armes, citoyens ! Etc.

VI

Amour sacré de la Patrie
Conduis, soutiens nos bras vengeurs !
Liberté ! Liberté chérie,
Combats avec tes défenseurs ! (Bis)
Sous nos drapeaux que la Victoire
Accoure à tes mâles accents !
Que tes ennemis expirants
Voient ton triomphe et notre gloire !
Aux armes, citoyens ! Etc.

VII

Peuple français, connais ta gloire ;
Couronné par l'Égalité,
Quel triomphe, quelle victoire,
D'avoir conquis la Liberté ! (Bis)
Le Dieu qui lance le tonnerre
Et qui commande aux éléments,
Pour exterminer les tyrans,
Se sert de ton bras sur la terre.
Aux armes, citoyens ! Etc.

VIII

Nous avons de la tyrannie
Repoussé les derniers efforts ;
De nos climats, elle est bannie ;
Chez les Français les rois sont morts. (Bis)
Vive à jamais la République !
Anathème à la royauté !
Que ce refrain, partout porté,
Brave des rois la politique.
Aux armes, citoyens ! Etc.

IX

La France que l'Europe admire
A reconquis la Liberté
Et chaque citoyen respire
Tous les lois de l'Égalité ; (Bis)
Un jour son image chérie
S'étendra sur tout l'univers.
Peuples, vous briserez vos fers
Et vous aurez une Patrie !
Aux armes, citoyens ! Etc.

X

Foulant aux pieds les droits de l'Homme,
Les soldatesques légions
Des premiers habitants de Rome
Asservirent les nations. (Bis)
Un projet plus grand et plus sage
Nous engage dans les combats
Et le Français n'arme son bras
Que pour détruire l'esclavage.
Aux armes, citoyens ! Etc.

XI

Oui ! Déjà d'insolents despotes
Et la bande des émigrés
Faisant la guerre aux Sans-Culottes
Par nos armes sont altérés ; (Bis)
Vainement leur espoir se fonde
Sur le fanatisme irrité,
Le signe de la Liberté
Fera bientôt le tour du monde.
Aux armes, citoyens ! Etc.

XII

O vous ! Que la gloire environne,
Citoyens, illustres guerriers,
Craignez, dans les champs de Bellone,
Craignez de flétrir vos lauriers ! (Bis)
Aux noirs soupçons inaccessibles
Envers vos chefs, vos généraux,
Ne quittez jamais vos drapeaux,
Et vous resterez invincibles.
Aux armes, citoyens ! Etc.

Happy Bastille Day - France!

I would personally like to thank France for:

1. Wine (especially most Bordeaux & the Chateauneuf du Pape 1986)
2. Provence, all of it
3. St Tropez and letting me camp nearby then go p*ss on the Lamborghini's at 2am as a student
4. Snails, foie gras and frogs legs, I think they're great
5. Tournedos Rossini, good job, well done
6. de Maupassant, Sartre, Camus - round of appplause
7. Hiding some of your best wine from the Nazi scum (still no excuse for being a bunch of yellow, capitulating girlie-boys, but hey, we'll help y'all out anytime, you just holler)
8. Croissants.

for the first and the last time i confess that blonds sometimes prove what people say about them :D
i was sightseing in Paris and came to this Bastill square just to get 1 more historical spot on me list. I couldn't figure out for about half an hour where this damn prison was. Never in my life have i been more embarrased than when some kind French soul told me it had been demolished 2 hundred years ago  :shame:

France's military casualties in the Second World War were equal to America's (600,000 total each). The main difference is the US population was over 3 times that of France, and most of the French military casualties occured in the two months of the invasion.

If you add in civilian deaths (around 250,000) it's hard to say that the French were cowards. They were just unable to withstand the vastly superior tactics of the German army, and had about half of Germany's population (which was the underlying logic of the Maginot Line, which, by the way, did exactly what was required of it - it forced a large number of German forces to bypass it and forced them forces into an area which should have been defensible, if Gamelin had not been such a dolt).

Tournedos Rossini is in fact Italian ! !

"....Could there be anything more decadent than this dish? It has it all, and then some. What a test of the French Paradox... and don't forget the prodigious red wine to go with it! Caviar, Truffles and Foie Gras by Katherine Alford gives us the recipe and story that the composer Rossini, a devoted fan of truffles, asked a chef to prepare this dish. The chef balked, suggesting that it was ill conceived. The maestro said that if the chef was offended, the maestro himself could prepare the dish quickly while the chef's back was turned. The word tournedos thus supposedly comes from the French phrase tourner le dos, to turn one's back...."

Sort of inspired by an Italian, fair enough, but most would point to it as a French dish per se. Pizza & pasta are Italian, filet, foie gras and heavy truffle based sauces tend to be of French origin. So let's just say it is a legend of obscure origins and call it a draw.

The good news is after the show cancelled Doogie, or a Patrick Harris as Hal pointed out, went on to fight aliens in the movie Startroop Fighters or something like that.

Big Bottoms Lyrics

The bigger the cushion
The sweeter the pushin',
That's what I said!
The looser the waistband
The deeper the quicksand,
Or so I have read!

My baby fits me like a flesh tuxedo,
I'd like to sink her with my pink torpedo!

Big bottoms! Big bottoms!
Talk about bum cakes
My girl's got 'em!
Big bottoms drive me out of my mind!
How could I leave this behind?

I saw her on Monday,
'Twas my lucky bun day,
You know what I mean!
I love her each weekday,
Each velvety cheekday,
You know what I mean!

My love gun's loaded and she's in my sights,
Big game is waiting there inside her tights!

Big bottoms! Big bottoms!
Talk about mudflaps
My gal's got 'em!
Big bottoms drive me out of my mind!
How could I leave this behind?

My baby fits me like a flesh tuxedo,
I'd like to sink her with my pink torpedo!

Big bottoms! Big bottoms!
Talk about bum cakes,
My girl's got 'em!
Big bottoms drive me out of my mind!
How could I leave this behind?

Big Hunk O' Love

Hey, baby, I ain't askin' much of you!
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no!
Baby, I ain't askin' much of you,
Just a big, a big, a big-a hunka love will do!

Don't be a stingy little mama,
You're 'bout to starve me half to death!
Now you can spare a kiss or two
And still have plenty left!

Oh, no, no, baby,
I aint askin' much of you!
Just a big, a big, a big-a hunka love will do,
That's right!

You're just a natural born beehive
Filled with honey to the top,
But I ain't greedy baby,
All I want is all you got!

Oh, no, no!
Baby, I ain't askin' much of you,
Just a big, a big, a big-a hunka love will do,
That's right!

I got a wishbone in my pocket,
I got a rabbit foot 'round my wrist,
I'D HAVE ALL OF THE THINGS MY LUCKY CHARMS COULD BRING
If you'd give me just-a one sweet kiss!

Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no!
Baby, I ain't askin' much of you,
Just a big-a hunka-hunka-hunka love will do,
Just a big, a big, a big-a hunka love will do,

If you search this site I have offered various things for rep points, starting with a f*ck which got me about three points from some loser with a face like boiled broccoli.

I also once posted a thread saying that Boscoe would give anyone US$ 10'000 per rep point given to me. I got a few points for that but when Boscoe saw it, he took off about 100.

Then TT offered to pimp herself out if people gave me rep points. This all got out of hand of course and I wound up with MINUS 2 billion.

The rest is history. You may be give me rep points at will and you can request whatever you want. Sex is out of the question as I haven't had a back-wax for a while.
