At the end of Noviy Arbat through the arch at the Intourist building (at the corner with the Bulvar) is a good one. It used to be called Dioscuria but has a new name. Ignore the remonted nonsense on the ground floor and go upstairs.

Superb food at good prices. Was there last friday and it is very very good. Quality is better than Tiflis and prices much lower. Should be a nice walk from where you are.

GOGIELI
I've haven't been there recently, but always had good times there. It's at Proletarskaya- just outside the centre. It always used to be better value than places like Genatsvale in the city centre. Live Georgian music in the evenings.

Ate here 3 months ago. The quality was excellent as was the service, and the fit out very good, especially if you have seen the film I would guess, but the prices were horrendous.

Fat Andy: yes moscow is expensive, but Dioscuria (as was) is not and the quality is as good as the expensive places, sometimes better: I've had variable experiences at Tiflis.

I would NEVER eat fish here. How many kilometres from the sea is it?

"Old Town" (Stariy Gorod), M. Semenovskaya. Very reasonable prices (ca. 1000-1500 (with drinks) RUR per person) and FANTASTIC food! Everything is served fresh, large menu, sweet personnel and exceptional chef. Recommend! I have been there 3 times, and will come back not once again.

Can make this a personal recommendation for Tinatin - wrote the above review and was back there last night with two friends who were equally impressed.

The ivy-decked open verandah is still open, despite the cold, and they've got some powerful terrace heaters to assist (and blankets).

Recommended (twice)!

It's not too far from Kievsky Vokzal either - a brisk walk from either Smolenskaya or Park Kultury metro.

30 min exactly :) - 5-6 min from Kievskaya to Arbatskaya, 3 for transition to Borovitskaya and 21 min to Chertanovskaya. I live there and see this restaurant every evening.

But it's quite a way from Kievskaya metro station!
