I think i also go with the notion that it was a careless thrown away butt, and the iron and spark was a story.:suspect:

A very tall story.
Has anyone ever tried to start a fire by rubbing stones or sticks together? It's hard enough with matches and lighter fluid ffs.

You have obviously lived a far too comfortable life! :p
Try flint and cotton wool or animal hair etc! It works a treat! ;)

Too true - I used to be a boy scout and we had to do all that rubbing sticks together stuff.
Being enterprising chaps we used to take firelighters to camp with us and flog them to other troops.
