Hey everyone,

I was wondering if there is much Wifi access in Moscow in terms of in public places (cafes, stores, ect) that are free of charge?
Thanks!

Quite many places!

I am not sure as for stores, but in cafes there are a lot.

McDonalds is the easiest one. They won't even notice if you don't order.

Yes, in loads of cafes, as already mentioned. McDonalds in theory limits you to 10mb and 30mins per session, but in practice you can just log-out and then log-in for 30 more minutes if you want. The Chocoladnitsa and Koffee-Haus chains almost all have unlimited free wifi too. Starbucks doesn't - yet.

If you don't want to rely on the vagaries of free wifi internet, two of Moscow's mobile phone providers now have great deals on 3G connection. MEGAFON are offering a 3G-modem for just 1 ROUBLE at the moment! Thereafter 389R per month for a fixed-usage tariff. But even better, BEELINE are offering UNLIMITED 3G for 380R per month (although you have to pay for the modem, it costs about 900R). Both modems come with self-installing software on board, it's foolproof to install, and even comes in choice or Russian or English. If you are feeling klutzy then take your PC to their shop and they will install it free anyhow. Or ION shops will install it all free for you if you buy it from them, and are legendarily helpful people :)

If difficult to find wifi spots, why don't you download Boingo ?? Just $7/month and works great. (also not only for Moscow)
