There are some great Castles to visit all within 20Km or so from Cardiff (Cardiff Castle, Caerphilli Castle, Castle Coch).

The beaches close to Cardiff are a bit crappy (avoid Barry Island and Penarth like the plague) but if you can head west a bit to Llantwit Major, Ogmore or Sutherdown, they are nice, with some cracking views.

If you head north a bit, you are in "the Valleys", if mountains and waterfalls (and sheep poo) are your thing then it's definately worth a vist.

"Cardiff bay" is the new development and has some lovely restaurants and bars.

The shopping in Cardiff is good. Everything is fairly close and most shops are indoors (in malls and arcades).

Anything else?

Cardiff even has a Hard Rock Cafe, there are some fantastic places nearby, and if you are looking for a reasonable hotel, opposite the Celtic Manner in Newport.

Do be careful though, Cardiff is not a safe place, try and stay with other people and just be aware

Lots of Welshmen - but remember that they are all a challenge as I hear that they prefer sheep to women..................!

Are you kidding me! We're a celtic nation, peaceful and friendly... except against England in the 6-nations!
