Come one, come all! The English Premier league kicks off on Aug 14th with Man City v Tot'nham (should be a cracker). So join ASAP! You can buy players and change your formation each week. Compete against league members as well as the general public for fun and prizes. Anyone can play. No skill needed.

First....join www.premierleague.com for free (it's almost pain-free) and then search for the league, with reference number:

Expat Rules is the name. Good luck to all who enter! There may be a prestigious prize in our elite league. Or maybe not.

Just so no one worries...you can change all your players, without penalty, up to the time given, on the webpage, usually a few hours before that week's fixtures.

After the first match you can change one player per game 'week' without penalty. If you want to change more, they'll deduct 4pts from your score.

Good luck and happy 'hunting'!

Well, Chelsea should do ok in the Champs league, if they don't meet teams like Inter and Barcelona early then they have a good chance.
I'll go with Chelsea winning the league.
FA Cup, I think Liverpool will have a good cup run, it's been a few years now..

What a final this was...

That became Gerrard's signature goal. Now that he doesn't do it every game, some folks want to sell him. Most teams would die to have a local lad like him on their team.

martpark, about subs, are these done automatically?

Yes, but in priority order and with an exception. So the first one named will be used first, etc, if your starter does not play one minute.
But the game also requires you have 3 defenders for every match, so if you only have 2 defenders eligible, a defender will automatically be taken.

Hope that makes sense.

Yeah makes sense..

In my start up I have a Liverpool defender, he's playing vs Arse on Sunday, so he will be replaced by a defender(sub 1) I have that is playing Saturday.

So far there are 8 teams in the league, looking good...The main thing is that we keep interested in the league, not get bored of it after a month or two..

Yes. It runs in 'game weeks' so points are officially added after all those games are complete. Sometimes a team can play twice in a game week.

The league looks good. Last year we had about the same. 2 gave up after disastrous starts but the top 3 went down to the wire.
BTW If you wonder why I don't have any Man Utd players, I play in a City Fans league and that's one of the rules. Petty? Of course.

and where's nobbynumbnuts? We need a Utd fan in the league as we have so many Liverpool fans.

I hope so, but they will be fighting towards the end of the season.Typical Fergie, rebuilding teams is something he's great at.
Berbatov needs to step up a gear this season ,can't see them relying on Rooney again..saying that, have a crap WC and then bang in 40 goals for your club..

Bellamy did well last night, if he leaves City might be a good reason to pick him because he will be on fire( as always) to prove a point ..

Only 2 days left really. All of Friday and then Sat morn. the league begins.
I think Bellamy is quality but he's a hot head so difficult for any manager. I think he'll go to Fulham to be with Hughes his old mentor.

Gerrard is quite amazing. Not many players score those type of goals and he seems to conjure them up whenever the team needs one...apart from WC Finals. England were rather uninspiring otherwise.

That's true, not many players around who stay with one club.
It might have hurt his pride when people were saying he's too old now, no point buying him and past his best, it will be typical Gerrard if he goes on and scores 25 goals this season..

Stupid question - apologies - Bellamy is going on loan if he goes to Celtic, given his revs in the News of the World about Mancini not talking to him and Tevez for 6 months, he's probably going to be sold proper - which probably Celtic can't afford, anyway if he gets sold to an EPL team would you have to re sign him, ie is Bellamy of Citeh different to Bellamy of Blackpool??? ( I don't have Bellamy purely a theoretical question now the Drog is staying).

Different question, is it just me who automatically thought 'The Hoops were QPR' I was amazed when I read the back page headline about the Hoops bid for Bellamy..

Judge
13-08-2010, 16:21
I didn't know Celtic were that hard up, surely they can afford 6-7m for Bellamy. If it's true about Mancini not talking to Bellamy and Teves then I can't see him lasting long at City, he's a joke of a coach..

Different question, is it just me who automatically thought 'The Hoops were QPR' I was amazed when I read the back page headline about the Hoops bid for Bellamy..
Celtic comes to mind whenever I hear 'The Hoops',it is funny thing is that, QPR's nickname is also 'Rangers' .Could be a pub quiz question, which English team nickname is related to two Scottish clubs?

martpark
13-08-2010, 17:58
The Hoops I usually think of Celtic but then again I lived in Glasgow for a summer once.

I thought Craig Bellamy (of City) would go to Fulham or Spurs. He's said he might retire but I can't imagine it. He looks lost if he isn't running around shouting. I think he's a great player if in the mood.

The thing is...in the first week make sure you correct the default selections. I saw the Bellamy thing...not good but Bale was substituted in but not as captain. Now you should transfer Bellamy and try to get players that are starters every week in their respective teams. You'll soon rise up the table.

I noticed that. He purchased Milner when he was at Villa who switched teams this week (Some girlie snitches missed Dan City who also had the same dilemma with 4 City players). I think they might force him to sell one this week. Not sure how it works but you can't buy more than three players from the same team.

I was undone by a Berbatov hatrick, the chances of that happening again seem remote, and as Martpark says the one to watch is Citeh:Chelsea, given the heavy present of both shades of blue in the upper end of the table, I think this coming round could be a crucial 6 point weekend - good luck to you all

Not so much gliding gracefully as a poorly controlled plummet, marvellously I managed to end up with considerably less than 11 players playing - I am somewhat confused by the substitution system and indeed deadlines for naming teams, I managed to do 4 transfers,(I think) during the international weekend and still managed to have only one fit (goalkeeping) substitute, praise the Lord for Judge and his Goalkeeping Captain...whoops, relegation here I come.

Well, the big round up. Fantasy Football for 2010/2011 has finished with aplomb. I'd just like to thank everyone for participating. It was a nail biter to the end and next season will most likely start in early August. Tune in for details.
Only 21 points separated the top three, with City Zen coming out on top with late season run. As they were my team, I was a little surprised to come out on top as I had no United players all season, so I like to think of it as part of the City treble: FA Cup, Champs Lge spot, Expat Lge Silverware.

A team of note was Depor Brighton who came in 8th without making a sub all season.
Surprising point getters. Charlie Adam, Andy Carroll (early on) Joe Hart and Yaya Toure.
