Does anyone know the most direct route and air carriers from Moscow to New Zealand? (doesn't have to be Auckland)...

I am heading to Sydney later in the year ..

Cheapest was to go to London and then down - stopping in Singapore

Auckland I think is the same ...

If you start from here then you have to go to Dubai or similar, maybe even Bangkok then hop down to Auckland

Using Travelbag in the UK

I think you can do a Moscow to Hongkong, but the stupid travel sites (travelocity, expedia) showed the only choice going from Moscow to LA then to NZ. Who the hell wants to circle the globe?

i always fly through tokyo to aus at it perfectly splits the 20 hours of flying. i'd imagine auckland would be a pretty similar case.

Gave up on Moscow agents - they are clueless on longhaul ...

Also get better deals out of the UK for some odd reason - figured a 3 hour hop to London was nothing if I am planning a 15 hour leg to Singapore !

Flew on 29 January from Moscow to Auckland with Emirates Airlines for 1,300 USD. Got tickets through Avantix.

Was very impressed. Has eight-hour layover (hotel provided) in Dubai and then stopped (but don't change planes) at Singapore and Brisbane.

It's a really long way but worth it.

Bish - that is interesting ....

As I will end up at Port Douglas - so easier to go from Briz or Cairns than to go back to Sydney ....

Things that make you go hmmm

Thanks, Gents - will indeed look into it.

and Ned-Ned, agree wholeheartedly on the Quantas commentary.

JaL is rated one of the best airlines in the world for service.

Once you have flown Emirates JAL sucks also........Emirates is definately the best flight back to Aus. They have an office at Paveletskaya, buy tickets direct no problems.

Oh...and they fly directly onto NZ from Bris.........
