A Briton was found shot dead in the Georgian capital, Tbilisi.

The Foreign Office confirmed the body of the Briton had been found dead in his apartment in Tbilisi but declined to identify the victim.

Is Tbilisi a safe city or should it be avoided?

Should be avoided, quite a dangerous place

I think in general it's fine, have had a friend living there for a while who seems to like it. i would think that this thing was a personal vendetta or something rather than a random attack. ive heard that wandering up into the mountains can be dangerous, but dont think tbilisi is too bad

the first time I visited Gruziya, back in the early 90s, stayed at the (then) Marco Polo Metekhi Hotel (now Sheraton), and actually was down there for Christmas, anyway, when I got to the hotel, there was a huge sign on the entrance "no guns allowed"...

but that was back then, georgia is quite safe, we have the US army down there these days... and a mcdonalds..
