i think there is very little required for most meds providing they have it....i don't use that pill, but i have no probs going in and getting the one i do use...

I have ashthma and needed a new inhaler...which the woman behind the counter told me i needed a script for it. she looked at my sad puppy dog foreign eyes and grabbed the inhaler and whoo hoo i can breathe....

Birth control pills are widely available in Moscow aptekas, much cheaper than in the States, and do not require a prescription. The only hitch would be matching your pills from the west to something that is sold here. There are a zillion brands with half a zillion formulations.

BTW (sorry for side-tracking for a mo') they also have the morning after pill here now which you can get over the counter (or so I am told!) ;) Called Postinor (made by Gideon Company, Hungary).

Two "36.6 apteka" asked last week a prescription for such pills to my GF. She just went to another "non 36.6" apteka and got what she wanted.

at 36.6 they just ask me if i've ever taken it before or if my doctor told me to take it. i say yes. they give it to me.

OK- I take Lowestra(Junel)is the generic. Where can I get this in Moscow or am I doomed to annual birthcontrol runs back to the US (perhaps should coordinate them with my visa runs....)???? :eh:

All you need is the formulation off of your packet of UK pills, tell the pharmacist here in Moscow that you want an equivalent, and you should be in business. They're so much cheaper here.

yes, peng is right. NO NO NO need to make runs to the states. i did the opposite, stocked up here before going over for extended stays in the US.

I third Peng's reply. I've had no problem matching my pills here. You just have to go by the ingredients in your pill. match the ingredient and the concentration (which should be written on the pill box and if not, you can find it on the Internet) I was on Lo ovral in the states and now take Marvelon here. No problems during switch over either. Love that I can get them without perscription and for only $10! In the US those things cost me $50!!!

For "Cilest" you don't need presecription :) Just go to any pharmacy and buy them.

Yeah- you guys are right about everything being cheaper. I saved a ton of $$$$ by getting major dentalwork done in Moscow. Next on the agends is LASIK. Thanks for the info ...now I just need to find an EXACT match and be sure it's not a knockoff! I absolutely do not want to switch brands of pills as had none of the annoying side effects with the ones I've been on(ie weight gain, becoming top heavy and or bloated like a cow, no messing up athletic performance...) Any suggestions on which pharmacy to hit? A friend recommended the womens' clinic on N Arbat but there have to be a zillion other places to get it. 50$!!!!Woa that's darn spendy! I paid 30 til we fought with the insurance to cover part of it. The insurance covered viagra but not the PIll...go figure!
