Hi expats,

May I ask a question based on your good experience?

How much does a family need per month in: Pounds, dollars, Euro or Rubles to pay for rent (in an apartment) within the Moscow "ring"- to include food, energy, travel, to live well or live in a "comfortable" way ( I know that is open to individual experince and opinion!)

(I am talking in terms of an expats expectation rather than a Russian persons expectation or experience as the two may be very different????)

As at now in 2009

Thanks for your opinions.

Depends how big your family is and hence how big an apartment you need.

As a reference: I live not far from Sokol Metro Station, in an apartment fitting your description, 100m2, but it is guarded. It is furnished (good but only a little bit of luxury) and cost 118.000 RUB, including internet, sat tv, heating, electricity, water...

First impression of shopping: Perhaps a little bit more expensive than Germany. Beer in an expat bar: 220 RUB.
