We live outside of Moscow and are looking to adopt a child -- Does any one know someone in Moscow that can complete an Official Home Study?

Ask Sadie on this forum, she knows this stuff

Your Embassy might have more information on the adoption process here and who to contact. I would try them first.

I think there was an article in Passport magazine recently about adoption - I'll try to find it and will pass on any other information given there.

I've found the magazine. The article doesn't give the kind of information you're looking for, but these contacts from the listings at the back of the magazine might be able to help you:

Kidsave International - www.kidsave.org, Eric Batsie 257 1171

Russian Orphan Opportunity Fund (ROOF) - www.roofnet.org, Alexei Svakhin or Siriol Hugh-Jones 229 5100

I just spoke to someone who adopted recently, and they said the only person they could find to do the Home Study was in Germany. They teamed up with a group of other adopting parents and jointly paid his travel to Moscow. The US embassy has someone who is an expert in adoptions and who could provide that information, as far as I know. Try (095) 728-5136, 728 5577 or 728-5588, or consulmo@state.gov - someone there may be able to help.

My friends recently completed an adoption and they used Danny for their home study (U.S. citizens). He is the only one I know of that does them currently. His info is below:

Danny St Louis has lived and worked in Moscow for the past six years as a therapist and adoptions specialist for Westerners. You can contact Danny at dstlou@online.ru
