Anybody know if you can get ready-made puff pastry here?

Tried making it once and vowed never to bother again!

Yes Puff pastry is everywhere ... cannot remember the brand name ....but puff is not a problem ...Filo on the other hand isn't

Filo is finally available at Stockmann Smolenskaya (or was last Saturday) - the real thing, imported from Greece! Of course the only reason why I am sharing this info rather than buying out the whole stock is that I'm on low carbs and my days of baking rum and Cointreau soaked baklava are long over ;) ;) ;).

One of the brands of puff pastry is Talosto; others might be Zvezda or Morozko.

Just been to Stockmann to look, is it frozen or chilled?

Filo is frozen; plastic vacuum pack - hope it is still there as my experience w/ostrich meat shows that these things sometimes are bought out as soon as they hit the shelves at Stockmann and restocking takes a while.

saw something in 7th Continent that looked like puff but wasn't sure (didn;t know the name). Got a nice fillet of beef and want to do Steak en croute

Puff is another story - that is frozen and available everywhere.

Тесто слоеное is the Russian word.

doing the whole atkins thing as well guys, I've combined it with the suppliments from the "release" program, (just not the shakes) its working VERY well, down 6 kilo's since last thursday, and was on atkins for a couple weeks before that, so its not a bunch of water weight. Its kind of pricey but it works, and you get a 90 day supply. I got mine from GNC.

good luck

ps, if ya' wanna' have a look

Puff pastry is "Слоенное Тесто" (sloyonoye testo) it comes in drozhevoye (yeast) and ne dorzhevoye (non yeast??). The closest thing to what I get in Tesco's is the non yeast. Available in any supermaket and most gastranomy even in the wilds.

Happy baking!

Was that puff pastry from Tesco the butter kind or the usual margarine stuff that you find round here? Can't convince myself to make it myself but want the buttery type or nothing;)
