Maybe it's nothing, but my PC seems to . . . well, hmm. Or purr, even. It sounds, at times, like someone, in the distance, is cutting their lawn.

This can't be good.

Can anyone recommend a local PC doctor? Is Zonker still around?

Motherboard ferrite power coils often sing, creating the noise you're probably hearing - although it's not so much indicative of anything wrong as opposed to a design fault.

The cure if to use silicon gel to acoustically couple the coil to the ferrite ring as it then acts like a rubber engine mount in effect, and hence dampens the vibrations and stops the resonance.

A number of Pentium IV based motherboards in particular were susceptible to this phenomena. :ok:

Maybe:-)
But maybe video card cooling fan making this sound. Or power cooling fan ...
It's no good:-) Video card or power supply can overheat and....you know:-)
