Attention test

This is a small, but very interesting test. Try not to cheat. If you do, it wouldn't be fun. How many times do you see the letter F in the sentence below. Count them only once

FINISHED FILES ARE THE RESULT OF YEARS OF SCIENTIFIC STUDY COMBINED WITH THE EXPERIENCE OF YEARS

OK, how many F's did you count? 3?
WRONG! There are 6, no joke
Read it again
Those who counted 6 from the first try is a genius, 3 is normal, 4 is rarely

I'm never lonely...the voices in my head are my friends.

People often miss the "f"s in the word "of", because it sounds like a "v".

Uh, I just had 2 ,
what does that make me?

Obviously, other than not a native English speaker, or writer and now it seems I cannot even read......

I didn't think prepositions counted. After all, can we really say they are real words as we know them? Try to turn them into a noun or verb or adjective... I dare ya!

:iagree: You need 3 letters or more for a "word".

The more fluent you are in English the fewer Fs you tend to find because people usually focus on the meaning and ignore insignificant words like 'OF'. Unless you have extraordinary concentration, like MickeyTong :hooray:. That's why native English speakers on the average were able to count fewer Fs than non-native ones. Probably the 'champions' would be people who don't know English at all - words saying nothing to them, they would have nothing else to do than just count symbols.

What is "not really" and what is "It's typical" ?-:confused1:

Dislexia is disability, or disorder, so it's not the case. We do not expect all people to jump 10 m long, or run 50 km/hour, or do huge sums, though some can do these things. In the same way it's typical to focus on the meaning and not on the symbols, though trained people like proofreaders or linguists do both.
