I like exercising and need to buy some clothes to go running into. Tracksuit bottoms and a training top. I went to a few department stores at the weekend and were all very boutique-like and a simple top cost around 5000 roubles which isn't the price I'm looking for.

I went to an outdoor market and tracksuit bottoms were 800 roubles which is still expensive in my opinion (comparing to the UK). I'm newish to Moscow and still trying to work out how much things cost and obviously don't want to get ripped off.

Are there cheap stores around where I can pick up some cheap sportswear or are the outdoor markets the going rate?

If you find something, let me know. I have had the same experience as you. Except I would have jumped at 800 rubles.

Try Sportmaster Diskont, Ordzhonikidze St. 12 (next door to the B1 Club). Leninsky Prospekt is the nearest metro station.

Try also shops at Mega ( I used to visit Mega Tepliy Stan)- often they have a good bargain. Sportmaster there has also good choice and prices there - almost the same as at Sportmaster Discont but choice is much worther there.
BTW the correct address od Sportmaster Discont is 11 Ordzhonikidze str. To my observation usually you can buy cheap boots there but difficult to find smth worth from sport clothers.

Try Adidas discount chain stores, at Sokolniki, Voykovskaya etc.

Thanks everyone for the advice but every shop i've been to is still way too expensive.

Fortunately I went to an outdoor market today and found some thin running trousers for 120rubles. They are too lightweight for the Moscow winter so I also bought some under trouser things (no idea what they are called) for 100 rubles.

Not exactly fashionable but fine for running in my local park.

.If you have so little money, maybe it wasn't worth for you to come in Moscow ? :wavey:

I just don't like wasting money. Fortunately being a guy shopping isn't recreational for me so will only pay ridiculous prices when necessary.

(, , ) ASICS, MIZUNO, NIKE, NEWLINE, SAUCONY (http://www.rc-asics.ru/)

better late than never...just saw your post. These guys have real running gear-clothes/shoes and all. Prices are about the same as in the US. Their stuff is real -none of this Turkish crap and they outfit some of the top runners here.

Have you been to Decathlon? It s cheap, and has a very good offer on every sport item. The nearest to the center is at Krasnoselskaya metro station (one station from Komsomolskaya), on the red line. It is in the same building as Ashan supermarket.

Decathlon - Центральный федеральный округ (http://www.decathlon.ru/RU/tsentralny-federalny-okrug-18794774/)
