View Full Version : Kshisya's curious! - Givers and Takers

Just a thought of the moment...

I suppose that it is a common fact that some people tend more to give to others - care, love, worry etc. Another group is obviously created to enjoy these benifits and are created to accept all that caring and attention.

Most likely all people were splitted in 2 groups for the better balance in the nature as the first enjoy their way and the others feel happy being pleased.

However, haven't you ever been frustrated bout the fact that you give yourself away and it does make you happy but the one who "you serve" is not able to appriciate your efforts and being ungrateful?
Or being a member of another group have you ever felt that the one who gives doesn't give you enough?

What is the right balance? As the one who gives also needs to get something in return but the one who takes maybe can't ever deliver enough as comparable to the one-who-gives' standards that "payback" is just nothing against what the giving one performs?

Are you a taker or a giver??

Maine Surfer

I think I'm a giver

Kshisya
29-07-2004, 11:50
what makes you think so? ;) and okay if you are a giver...do you ever get sad that the ones you give to just take it for granted and can act just as users sometimes?

Ledka
29-07-2004, 11:52
My paradox is that I am a giver with wrong ppl and taker (may be even USER) with right ones. Bu ti work hard to change myself!!:)

Maine Surfer
29-07-2004, 11:56
yeap. I'm not an extreme giver, but definetely one. Funny thing I've noticed though, as I get older, I become less of a giver.

K - If anyone knows about taking, using, look at me, I will be the centre of attention, I'm right, you should!

As far as giving is concerned, read the replies - and learn!

Kshisya
29-07-2004, 12:00
Ledka I think it is not just yours problem I mean to find the right balance to who to give more. I actually really feel ashamed that I don't give enough to my family for example but more to friends and people I consider special....

At the same time I can really take good care of friends but sometimes I feel some of them start act as users...it is not much fun ;)

maybe it is just because you know better who to give and who not? ;)

lucy it is not that hard to become a center of attention, it is more valued WHOS attention you get ...
and yep i AM reading becoz I am really curious how other people feel about it ;)

That's the thing I actually was thinkin'g about lately
funny thing is that a taker would never confess he is one, and actually they tend to think they are givers in the end.

Being an extravert I just can't stand both: takers and introverts, which actually is the same s in my opinion.
If you are a real giver, why would you be dissapointed when don't get payback? Let them choke with what you gave - move on and don't loose your time.

I'll tell you what is the right balance - two givers :);) That's the blast. :hooray: :reindeer: In the end it's not true that opposites attract. We all end up with the people like ourselves. ;) Can you imagine how two takers end up? :D

Ledka
29-07-2004, 12:16
When it goes to using I become "naglaya russkaya" as my friend calls me. i can be very tough with USERS and turn them into LOOSERS. Fortunately it doesn't happen often to me but once I showed my deepest nature to a friend who was a permanent taker. But of course I don't mind to be used by ppl who also let me use them.

Ledka, you must be Moskvichka

Ledka
29-07-2004, 12:24
Is it a compliment Maine Surfer?

Actually I am not....

Maine Surfer
29-07-2004, 12:29
It wasn't a compliment, just a question.
I've encoutered many Maskvichkas become "naglaya russkaya", and very few girls out of town. It's kinda their trait.

May sound funny, but looks like I am something in between Ledka and Main Surfer;):)
Quite agree with Main Surfer - the older you get, the more mmmmm... rational you get in respect of giving...

Maine Surfer
29-07-2004, 12:33
It's not even rational I think, maybe more cynical. Unfortunately.
I was such a good boy when I was 16. Really. :D

Then i guess I am getting younger... cos I am improving with years and value help, support, the whole giving and sacrificing thing more and more...

"naglaya" doesn't depend on the place of origin I guess...

Maine Surfer
29-07-2004, 12:41
Ledka, I'm the opposite. I hate it about myself, but I'm definetely becoming older. Still a nice guy, but not a good boy anymore

Ghost

I'm a stealer.

batman
29-07-2004, 13:14
Ghost, you wish you would. But you are not. You are a nice guy.

It is not soooo easy to be a taker (or even a stealer). You got to be straight and take all the time. Otherwise you start to give. And then you are a sometimes give, sometimes take kinda person.
Like most of us.

I wish i could be a taker all the time. I am afraid I am not that perfect (yet).

Ghost
29-07-2004, 13:17
Ok...maybe I'm a victim? :)

Давайте людям больше, чем они ожидают. И делайте это радостно.

"nice guy" does not mean victim.

Guess, it was your choice be a nice one. As you might find it easier to achieve your results while beeing nice and while giving.

(As we all think givers are nice ...)

But enough of this hobby-Freud stuff here.

Deep analysis only after you transferred larger amount of money to my account ... or just pay me enough beer.
I wanna be a TAKER!

 now now one more generalization bout MoskvichkaS and you will have to pick up your teeth from the floor :p

Fa-Q ty mne, ya tebe that's the rules of sales not personal relations

Sadie I get your point however it just seems to me that sometimes when one gives, gives and gives away even doing it without expecting anything in return there should be someone who'd give to that one...A Perons can't just give away his/her self without taking from somebody at least a bit as compensation as in this case the emotional and phisical sources will exhaust and at some point the person just won't be able to give anything away as runs dry and gets empty ;)

peyote good CDs by the way ;) :inlove::D

you give, but expect to recieve, then, you're not really a giver... are you?

In fact, that would mean we are all users in one way or another.

As for me, it's about a ballance of give and take.... I'm more an absorber ... like a sponge.... but if I'm a good listener, which is what I'm often told, then I'm a giving too much already and you owe me SOMETHING NOW FOR MY TIME, RIGHT!!

:p

nu, Kshisya, I only hope that this thread is not the logical or chronological continuation of another thread of yours :)

Kshisya
29-07-2004, 14:21
Sadiechka neeeeeeeeeee :) no worries it is just a thinking relevant to some ppl but not THAT thread ;)

lyndsay well my first "?" was if you (like ppl here) feel yourself a giver or a taker ;) I can't define myself as I am a giver to some people and in case of the others I might be a taker, tho it is sad...like I do give to anybody more than I give to my parants for example...oh well am doing my best to change it :D

I don't mean that giver should expect something in return from the ones that person gives to! ok to make it clear will tell how I feel :) :

I enjoy giving! Regardless the ways and means I try to deliver people I care what they need or what would make them happier and really don't expect much from them in return if anything ...i even dont consider it a giving at that point I think ;) However I do feel happy when they show the same in their attitude to me and that gives me more POWER to give them much more :) As if i am sad I can do my best to give away but it wouldn't be the best I could perform still as I just lose that power/magic:D, BUT if someone (some other person) gives me at least a lil of his/her self I feel happy and can double my "give-aways" directed to the one who gave and 10 more ppl :D

comprehendo? ;)

if I'll get flamed, but, it seems that the Eastern european girl just gives ALOT...

Don't get all defensive, but it strikes me that the majority are always looking for the good in the bad...

The saying ' treat them mean - keep them keen,' just gains momentum here. I'm a bit mean, moody, but I've been humbled so many times by these open green eyes just looking though me and making me feel like shit for being a shit...

I don't like to generalise; it's just something I've noted in friends and lovers... present girl just gives, gives, gives, gives.... it's actually too much.. sometimes a man needs a fight, a stand, a girl to kick you into shape... to make you realise that she can and will leave ya if you don't shape up..

Otherwise, it's just take, take, take.... and I'm not sure it's actually the man's fault if the woman is so passive.. pleasing... patient...

Just my penneth..

Kshisya
29-07-2004, 15:48
lyndsay I fully agree that most often you end up facing either way too much giving or taking :D...I do try to keep the balance wise but sometimes it really needs much effort :):)

completely agree on your post ~handshake~ ;)

lyndsay
29-07-2004, 16:04

Kshisya, I usually am a giver. These past few years in Moscow has totatlly changed me into a big time taker. I'm more than a little ashamed by that fact as well. (That's why I never picked a restaurant when I wasn't paying. I didn't feel I had the right to make a demand.) But I also would like to believe that I was a giver in whatever ways I could be. Maybe I'm wrong about that.

Big thanks to Ghost for the drinks, Kshisya for the meals, and Fa-Q for the phone. Ghost always loved that phone...

Kshisya
30-07-2004, 10:56
Heyzy! common! i'd never say thatyou are a taker, knowing how much you care bout some ppl I wouldn't ever claim you are self centered and just take from others! You got good and kind soul it is more of a giver kind ;)
