I have to leave Russia on the 6th Nov to renew my visa which expires on the 10th Nov.

The invitation is for a Voluntary Organisation, and I intended to get a 1 year multi entry business visa.

However, in the meantime I have been given work in a big Russian company which has promised to employ me legally and is in the process of sorting out a work permit for me.

BUT...will they be able to convert my one year business visa into a Work PErmit, or should I simply get a 3-month single entry business visa when I go to London on the 6th? It would be cheaper, for sure.

If the answer is yes, then will that Work permit allow me to leave Russia as and when I like for the next year, or will I have to get ANother visa in 3 months???

It's all very confusing, I hope there is somebody who undersstands my question.

Thank you!!

It might take more than 3 months for your employer to obtain your work permit and Work visa invite. Factor that into your calculations.

However, in any case, a ME business Visa will only have you here for 90 days from date of first entry, so you might actually need to leave the country and wait out of country till your wp comes about.

Thank you Wodin

But...

Can the organisation who wants to employ me start the process of getting me a work permit, if the organisation issuing my current invitation for my upcoming visa trip on the 6th November, is a different one?

Crucial question!

Thanks in advance
Jack.

As far as I can understand the answer is yes. The Business Visa is not meant for employment. It is meant for business trips into Russia. Logically, a business traveller may, while here, turn up a job with someone else, who would then start teh process for obtaining a work permit etc.

There again...using the words "logic" and "here" in the same sentence might not be the most sensible of things to do.

so, in that case, it makes sense for me to get a 3 month visa when I go to London, not a 1 year one?

Why not call a specialist. Try Vadim at Liga Consulting and see what he has to say. Mention you saw his company mentioned on this site and chances are he will tell you what is the best option.
Good Luck

Work permits invitations quotas have been reached in Moscow you will need to restart your application process after the Government resumes work after the New Year 2009 holiday

you will need atleast the better part of 6 months to get your work permit visa in your passport

the longest part of this is chnging your status from Business Visa to Work Permit Visa

last time I checked if you have business , it means you are working ...but you are in Russia nothing is really normal here by western standards this includes business.... Govt, agencies ,restaurants etc

everyone wants western cash.... but they dont deliver or do not deliver that u ordered
