Fyodor Shalyapin

Fyodor Shalyapin is the world-famous Russian opera singer of late 19th – early 20th century. He owned the houses No.25, No.27 and No.29 on Novinsky bulv. In 1914 he made his house a hospital, his wife and daughters worked there as regular nurses. In Soviet time all his property was expropriated by the government, the house was settled and the singer had to live in the attic staircase. At last he went to abroad tour and never came back to Russia. In 1988 Shalyapin Museum was opened in the house No. 25.
