    Updated Snowboarding destinations

I noticed that there is not really a lot of up to date information on Snowboarding so let's share on the worthwhile places you've visited and want to visit.

I visited Sochi over the break and had 2 days at the Rhosa Khutor ski resort. For my first trip in Russia, I was really impressed. There was lots of fresh deep snow, despite the slopes being only about 40km from the coast, and post the winter olympics, the infrastructure is outstanding. I understand that this area is a favourite of Mr. Putin, so don't be alarmed when you have to pass through a metal detector to access the gondolas.

Rhosa Khutor itself is a bit pricy, with a full day pass costing 2950rub, and as I had to rent all the gear for 2400rub, I would not make it a weekly event.

What are your favourite slopes in Russia, and what is the accomodation on offer?
Any insider information on deals and specials?
Where do you buy equipment in Moscow or other cities?

Sorry to say this but skiing in Russia is basically crap. Poorly maintained equipment, very old tows, lack of infrastructure, lack of good equipement...

I'll stick with Euro skiing thank you

Ah because you have been to Sochi?

Or any other place in Russia for that matter.

I am from South Africa, so I'm not picky. Especially seeing that there is only one place with a tow-lift and artificial white stuff. And, holding a job whilst popping over to the Alps seems a bit of a stretch, so let me know the least crap ones and I'll work my way down.

Bear in mind that west of the Urals there are no decent mountains and that the Urals are 1000+ km east of Moscow. Given the distance and air fares to get there then maybe popping to the Alps might well work out cheaper

Try just skipping over the border into Georgia; some great skiing there in places such as Gudauri.....
