New to Rostov on Don

Hi,

My family and I just moved to Rostov on Don. My husband is working and I have a 3 year old daughter and am expecting. I have only been here a week but can see without speaking Russian I feel incredibly isolated. The city is beautiful and seems to be a wonderful place to live for the next three years. Any advice would be greatly appreciated; I do intend to begin Russian lessons.

I am not sure how many Expats there are in Rostov on Don, or how many are members of this site and will see your message - but I hope you feel less isolated soonest and can find some other like-minded people to help you settle into your new home

Good Luck

Congratulations and welcome to RF and Rostov-n-D, the Southern Capital!
Pls see Rostov section of the forum:

You may visit local Rostov university (also known as Southern Federal) and ask there about Russian group lessons:

They also supply some courses in English:

But the schedule may appear not convenient for you. In this case here are some data on teaching people who is specialised in Russian for foreigners in Rostov and area:

Hello, americangirl. I'm originally from Rostov and you can PM me if you have any questions. But I'm living in Moscow region now, so I won't be able to meet you or to show you around. It's true that the city is not very expat-friendly, the system of public transport is just awful, the names of the street are all in Russian, etc. Moscow is much better in this regard.
